Protecting Public Health
Public Act 368, 1978, Section 2433 states in part: "..a local health department shall continually and diligently endeavor to prevent disease, prolong life, and promote public health through organized programs, including prevention and control of environmental health hazards..."

Goals of the Division
To maintain the environmental philosophy, the Environmental Health Division adopts the following broad-based goals:

Protect the public health from food borne illness and help to assure the public that their expectations regarding wholesome and safe food are met.

Protect public health and the environment by promoting the proper use, protection, and preservation of land in a responsible manner.

Protect and use our air resources in a manner that will not adversely affect the public health or environment.

Protect the public health and safety by assuring a minimum shelter and living environment.

Protect and preserve our water resources for human consumption and promote and protect acceptable industrial, agricultural and recreational utilization.

Provide the leadership, direction, and resources to address public, commercial, and governmental needs.
